The Welcome to Burnaby Fair 2026 (September 18th, 2026)

is bringing our community together — and we need volunteers like you!

This is a great opportunity to be part of an amazing team, gain hands-on volunteer experience, and help support 30+ community resource booths and hundreds of participants at one of Burnaby’s largest community events.

Volunteers will work closely with the Burnaby Village Museum (BVM) staff and event team. Selected volunteers will receive a short online orientation with the Event Manager beforehand, and the invitation link will be provided in advance.

DATE: Friday, September 18th, 2026

SHIFT OPTIONS:

• Morning Shift: 10:15 am – 2:45 pm

• Afternoon Shift: 2:15 pm – 6:45 pm

Volunteers will be assigned to one shift and are expected to remain in their roles until the end of their assigned shift.

LOCATION: Burnaby Village Museum

ADDRESS: 6501 Deer Lake Avenue, Burnaby

Morning Shift – Setup & Preparation

  • Guide organizations to their assigned booth areas

  • Assist organizations with booth and tent setup before the event begins

  • Move tables and distribute chairs

  • Greet visitors and count the number of visitors upon arrival

  • Coordinate with workshop facilitators and help direct participants

  • Support children’s area activities and games

  • Work with BVM staff and volunteers to ensure the event area is ready by 2:00 p.m.

  • Meet and coordinate with BVM staff and volunteers before the event begins

Afternoon Shift – Event Support

  • Welcome community participants and count the number of visitors

  • Guide participants to entrances, information areas, and activities

  • Support community resource booths and organizations

  • Support children’s area activities and games

  • Provide directions and general information to participants

  • Coordinate with workshop facilitators and help direct participants

  • Support crowd management and event activities

  • Guide performers to green rooms and performance areas

  • Assist with booth and tent teardown and help organizations close their areas
