Our Family Life Education programs encourage individuals, parents and families to develop healthy and caring relationships by providing education and support.

We provide a variety of education and support programs for individuals and parents to create healthy and supportive environments for themselves and their families.

Fall 2026 Programs

Circle of Security

Wednesdays

Starting September 9 (8 sessions total) 1:00pm-3:00pm

Location: 6140 McKercher Avenue

Circle of Security is an evidence-based parenting program designed to strengthen the parent-child relationship by enhancing caregivers’ understanding of their child’s emotional needs. Grounded in attachment theory, this course guides caregivers in recognizing and responding to their child’s cues in ways that build secure attachments. By the end of the program, participants gain practical insight into their child’s behavior and emotional world, leading to stronger, more responsive relationships that foster healthy development. Free child care available for children 18 months to 10 years with pre-registration. Snacks and bus tickets are also available.

Curious Minds

Thursdays

Starting September 24 (6 sessions) 9:30am-11:30am

Location: Edmonds Res. Centre, #205-7355 Canada Way

A supportive program for families with children ages 2–6 to explore play, emotions, positive discipline, and child development. 

The program has two parts: 1) Connection & Discussion, where caregivers explore practical ways to support their child(ren)’s development through play, exploration, and daily routines with a facilitator; and 2) Parent & Child Activities, where parents/caregivers and children come together for a fun, hands-on activity related to the week’s topic. Snacks and bus tickets are also available.

Nobody is Perfect English

Mondays

Starting September 14 (6 sessions) 1:00pm-3:00pm

Location: 6140 McKercher Avenue

This program is designed to help you get to know your child better while equipping you with valuable skills and tools to boost your confidence as a parent. It's essential to remember that none of us are perfect – we all have our challenges. Nobody's Perfect!! Free child care available for children 18 months to 10 years with pre-registration. If your child is younger than 18 months or older than 10, we may not accommodate them in this program. Snacks and bus tickets are also available.

Parenting for Immigrants

Tuesdays

Starting September 22 (6 sessions total) 6:00pm-8:00pm

Location: 6140 McKercher Avenue, Burnaby

Raising children in a new country is a difficult task. Come and learn useful information on child development, the Canadian school system, child-care options, positive discipline, healthy nutrition and much more. Free child care available for children 18 months to 10 years with pre-registration. Snacks and bus tickets also available

Two Generations, One Family

Fridays

Starting September 25 (2 sessions total) 9:30am-11:30am

Location: Pioneer Community Res. Centre (5th floor) 4535 Kingsway, Burnaby

“Two Generations, One Family” is a special two-session parenting program for grandparents and parents to share experiences, explore how parenting has changed across generations, and discover ways to support children together.

The first session, Then & Now: Parenting Across Generations, will explore topics such as discipline, meals, sleep, praise, safety, and screen time.

The second session, One Family, One Team, will focus on family roles, boundaries, consistency, and respectful communication between parents and grandparents.

Both sessions will be inclusive, visual, and discussion-based, with participants grouped by shared language where possible. Free childminding will be provided with pre-registration. Priority registration will be given to grandparents, with parents welcome to register if space is available.

Single Mother Support Group

Wednesdays (ongoing) 6:00pm - 8:00pm

Location: 6140 McKercher Avenue

Saturdays (ongoing) 1:30pm - 3:30pm

Location: 6140 McKercher Avenue

Come and meet other single moms, connect with resources, share stories and support in a friendly space while enhancing your independence. Free childcare is available. If your child is younger than 18 months or older than 10, we may not accommodate them in this program.
