NEW ONLINE PROGRAM!

Thriving Children

Empowering Parents

Starts May 4

Every Monday 8:00pm-9:30pm | 6 sessions | Location: ONLINE OFFERING *no program on May 20

  • The pandemic served as a stark yet invaluable reminder of many aspects of life we often take for granted, such as shopping, arranging playdates for our children, visiting family and friends, going to school and so on. It highlighted the profound connection we share with both people and our environment while also introducing screens & technology into our daily lives like never before.

This realization was particularly significant for children, especially those aged zero to six, whose development is closely tied to their interactions with the world and those around them. Every experience significantly shapes their growth, future well-being, academic success, and overall life trajectory.

With these lessons in mind, we’ve curated a virtual program aimed at proposing creative and practical strategies to help parents and caregivers of young children navigate the challenges that can arise during disruptions like those experienced during the pandemic.

We aim to create safe virtual spaces for parents to engage in meaningful conversations, share experiences, and learn how they can support both the healthy growth of their children and their own well-being through life's ups and downs.

Over the course of six virtual sessions, participants will explore topics such as:

    • Building family resilience through a community of support

    • Understanding and supporting healthy child development .

    • The vital role of play in early childhood.

    • Compassionate parenting.

    • Fostering a balanced approach to the digital world.

    • Finding space for parental wellness

No childcare provided for online programs.

  • Register here. Registration will be final once the completed form has been submitted. Form will be sent in your booking confirmation.

NEW PROGRAM!

Navigating the Tween Years

Starts April 16

Tuesdays 12:30pm-2:30pm | 8 sessions | 6140 McKercher Avenue

  • The tween years, also referred to as early adolescence, mark a crucial developmental phase in our children's lives. It’s a time when children start expanding their world, moving beyond the boundaries of home and school. They start exploring their individuality, become more independent and peer relationships start gaining more significance.

During this period, children rapidly acquire skills and absorb knowledge from the world around them, impacting their trajectory into adolescence and adulthood. This evolving parent-child relationship demands nurturing rather than engaging in power struggles that may emerge during this stage. It's an important time for you as a parent to understand the changes your child is going through in the tween years, enabling you to sustain the strong bond you share, especially as they transition into their teen years.

Join us in a safe and welcoming space for engaging and informative sessions where you will learn about:

•The physical, emotional, and cognitive development in the tween years.

    • The changing social and school life of your tween as they transition to high school.

    • Understand the effects of social media and substance abuse on brain development and learning.

    • Understand why peer relationships are important for your tweens.

    • Initiate and maintain healthy conversations with your child on topics such as sexual orientation,

gender identity, peer pressure, drugs, bullying and other risky behaviours

    • Strengthening and nurturing that special parent – child bond (attachment) as your child grows.

    • Strategies for managing stress in healthy ways.

    • Tips on raising resilient and compassionate children.
