BFL Leaving Burnaby Heights
Jeanne Fike and her family grew up at 250 Willingdon Ave.—but not during the years the building served as Burnaby North secondary or even Burnaby Heights Junior High School after that.
Rather, it was the building’s subsequent 30-year stint as Burnaby Heights Resource Centre where Fike and her non-profit, Burnaby Family Life, grew and matured.
The Heights resource centre was ahead of its time, said Fike, now BFL’s executive director.
“It was what the [provincial] government talks about now–one-stop shopping, we had it.”
The “shopping” was for an eclectic array of community and social services all located under one roof.
