In 2001, a group of agencies in British Columbia
became associate members of the Canadian Outcomes Institute’s (COI) HOMES-Muttart
Research Project and adopted its outcome monitoring system.
These agencies have requested that an outcome institute be established
within British Columbia to assist in the ongoing development, monitoring, and
analysis of the results-based data system they have helped to create.
Anticipated Results
The project is intended to produce an annual report from data compiled from
agencies across British Columbia. It is hoped that this data can eventually be
used to provide evidence for ongoing improvement of services.
In addition, to
handle the data in an ethical manner, an ethics committee will be formed to
ensure all data handling, analyses, and reporting are completed using methods
that protects client and agency confidentiality and privacy over the long-term.
The data will be analyzed using descriptive statistics to help describe the
dataset collected by all agencies and then presented in a BC annual report.
